Zendure’s SuperBase V started out on Kickstarter, and has kept going until it has attained Innovation Award Honoree recognition within the Sustainability, Eco-Design & Smart Energy category at CES 2023. It is built along the lines of the increasingly ubiquitous portable generator, albeit one so large that it has its own motorized wheels to move it around.
The OEM insists that it can be even more to the user than that, as it can scale up to a 64kWh source of back-up power in its maxed-out set-up of dual base units with 4 of their matching stackable Satellite Batteries each .
Zendure claims that its completion could deliverup to 23,000W of power distribution“, and can even re-charge an electric car from 1 of up to 10 AC circuits, thanks to new 120V/240V advanced batteries also apparently rated for such a vehicle.
Zendure initially described them as solid-state, although they are now officially pegged as semi-solid state instead. Regardless, the OEM asserts that its specific energy of over 228kWh/kg (or ~103kWh/lb) gives it 42% more “energy per poundthan conventional lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries.
The OEM also claims that its battery-management techniques give each semi-solid state SuperBase V an internal battery life of up to 10 years, or 2 years more than the generator’s LiFePO4 version, while going through half the cycles over that life-time.
Zendure also notes that semi-solid batteries are potentially more durable, extremely low-temperature resistant and stable compared to traditional alternatives. The SuperBase V currently starts at US$4,099 via its first-party webstore.
