Yankees, Guardians fans fight at ALDS Game 3 in MLB playoffs

Fan fights have seemingly become the norm at sporting events. Saturday night’s Yankees vs. Guardians game in Cleveland was no different.

Video from what appeared to be Game 3 of the ALDS between the Yankees and Guardians in the 2022 MLB playoffs showed a brawl breaking out in the bleachers in left field during the Yankees’ walk-off loss.

The video starts with an argument and quickly pivots to swings being thrown between a fan in Guardians garb and a fan in a black jacket. The fan in the black jacket then swings, misses, and falls two rows forward.

A fan in an Aaron Judge jersey then tosses his beer on the Guardians fan, who shoves the fan in the Judge jersey onto his rear end. The fan who tumbled multiple rows gets back up and starts punching the Guardians fan. Suddenly, a fan in a red flannel and black hat comes from off-screen and punches the Judge fan in the face before the video cuts off.

The tightly contested series continued with a tense Game 3 on Saturday. Yankees starter Luis Severino rebounded from a shaky first two innings to pitch into the sixth. The Yankees took a 5-3 lead into the ninth, but Wandy Peralta gave up two singles before giving way to Clarke Schmidt. Two singles and a strikeout later, on a 1-2 count with two outs, Oscar Gonzalez hit a walk-off, two-run single to give the Guardians a 6-5 win and a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4 of the best-of-five series is set for Sunday at 7:07 pm If the Yankees, who have Game 1 winner Gerrit Cole on the mound, can tie the series, they’ll host Game 5 Monday night.
