Decisions, decisions.
The New York Yankees face a big one with Jameson Taillon.
The 30-year-old hits the open market this offseason after tying his career high with 14 wins in 2022.

The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports it makes sense for the Yankees to extend the qualifying offer to Taillon.
While Taillon won’t get $19.65 million a year on a long-term deal, he is in the group of pitchers that may look good to current teams on a one-year, $19.65 million contract.
Heyman believes Taillon will land a four-year deal worth $60 million while The Athletic’s Jim Bowden projects the right-hander will get four years and $70 million. At those prices, it’s possible Taillon has pitched his final game in pinstripes.

The Yankees’ interest in re-signing Taillon could depend on how much the club chases Cy Young front-runner Justin Verlander. Per Heyman, the Yankees “still like” the 39-year-old right-hander.
The Yankees loved the idea of importing Justin Verlander last winter, and they offered the right-hander $25 million. … They may try again, assuming Verlander opts out, but they don’t necessarily like their chances.
Verlander is expected to win his third Cy Young Award next week after posting a career-best 1.75 ERA in 2022.
