Aaron Judgethe reigning AL MVP and Yankee captain, has been named a finalist for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game.

The Yankees slugger was last season’s leading vote-getter, but his recent injury may have deprived the outfielder of a second straight season of garnering that honor. This season’s top vote-getter in the American League is Shohei Ohtani.

Last season, the Yankees had six All-Stars with Judge and Giancarlo Stanton winning starting positions. This year, Judge is the lone Yankee to have a chance at starting.

In 49 games this season, Judge is having similar numbers to his MVP year. He’s slashing .291/.404/1.078 with 19 home runs and 40 RBI. In the seven games prior to crashing into the wall in left field at Dodger Stadium in early June, Judge was hitting .320 with five home runs.

Now that Judge has passed the first phase of All-Star voting, fans will be able to vote for their All-Star choices beginning Monday, June 26 at 12 pm ET and concluding Thursday, June 29 at noon ET.

Judge will be opposed in the outfield this season by Mike Trout, Randy Arozarena, Yordan Alvarez, Kevin Kiermaier and Adolis Garcia.

The 31-year-old outfielder is bidding for his fifth All-Star selection — all starts — in his six seasons with the Yankees. If Judge is selected during the fan election portion of the process, he’ll become the fourth Yankees player ever to do so, joining Derek Jeter (9), Dave Winfield (7) and Alex Rodriguez (8).
