The personal electronics giant Xiaomi is expected to make a leap into automobiles as of 2024. Its inaugural car has allegedly leaked in the form of schematics that purport to reveal the shape of its front and rear bumpers ahead of schedule. Then again, the tip may prove disappointing for those hoping for a vehicular version of something like the 12S Ultra.
The renders in question suggest a shape quite like that of the Tesla Model 3, particularly around the headlights. As the rest of the vehicle is projected to be in the form of a sedan, it might seem that Xiaomi is looking to ape a much more established marque in order to drive sales.
This potential hint of under-confidence on Xiaomi’s part has been disrupted by the OEM’s general manager of PR, Wang Hua, who insists that, while the new leak does pertain to the company’s car-building plans, it is of a generic template supplied to it by BAIC Mold & Plastic.
Therefore, the real first-gen Xiaomi car might have a much different exterior by the time it reaches the market. Hua’s explanation may or may not also cover pictures showing the OEM’s alleged current prototype vehicle, the “Modena“, in the course of cold-weather testing in Inner Mongolia.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
