BOSTON — The University of Maine women’s soccer team was selected to finish in eighth place in the America East preseason poll, as announced on Monday. The Black Bears received 16 total points in the poll.
UMass Lowell tops the list with 59 points, along with four first place votes. Vermont follows with 58 points and three first place votes. UNH ranks fourth with 49 points. Binghamton received 42 points. UAlbany and NJIT tallied 35 points. Bryant (19 points) holds the 7th spot respectively. UMBC rounds out the poll with 11 points.
Maine finished the 2021 season with a 3-7-4 record, 1-6-2 in conference play.
Maine will open the 2022 season with a home contest against St. Peter’s on August 21st, when the two squads will play the first game against each other since 2019.
