WASHINGTON – George Washington women’s soccer kicks off its Fall 2022 campaign this week with a pair of home matches at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. WELCOME BACK:
This season, George Washington welcomes back 18 letterwinners from the 2021 squad. Headlining the returners are graduate students Cammie Dopkewho led GW in minutes played last season, sophomore Alicia Windowwho was named to the A-10 All-Rookie team a year ago and a senior Sammy Neymanwho started all 18 games in the midfield last season for GW.

Additionally, graduate student Rachel Sorken will return to the pitch in 2022 after missing last season with an injury. During Sorkenn’s last full season in 2019, she paced the Buff & Blue with 27 points and was named to the A-10 All-Conference second team.

NICE TO MEET YOU:
GW welcomes 11 newcomers this fall, headlined by a trio of transfers Aza Keohan (Princeton), Maya Goudeseune (Kentucky) and Caitlin Cunningham (Marquette). When speaking about the incoming class, Coach Demko noted that “our incoming players are very competitive and dynamic, but they’re also great people who are determined to succeed on and off the field. I am eager for everyone to watch their collective desire for growth and development, which will continue to push this program forward.”

ABOUT UMBC:
The Retrievers enter the 2022 campaign looking to prove doubters wrong after being picked last in the America East Conference’s preseason poll. UMBC will look to rely on sophomore Izzy Binko to lead the team offensively. In 2021, Binko started every game for the Retrievers and finished second on the team in goals and points.

ABOUT WILLIAM & MARY:
The Tribe will kick off their 2022 season on Thursday against Virginia Tech before traveling to Washington, DC, for Sunday’s clash. William & Mary was picked ninth in the CAA preseason poll following a 4-9-3 campaign last season. The Tribe’s starting goalkeeper, Zoe Doughty, was named to the CAA Preseason All-Conference team. Last year, Doughty allowed just three goals in over 700 minutes of play.
