Women’s Soccer Drops Home Opener To Cleveland State

Saint Joseph’s women’s soccer team dropped its home opener to Cleveland State, 5-0, on Thursday evening at Sweeney Field.

How It Happened
• Cleveland State took a 1-0 lead at 2:54 as Mayra Sesmas took a centering pass inside the box and deposited it to the lower left side of the goal.
• Sesmas added her second goal of the match at 26:00 as she took advantage of a St. Joe’s turnover inside the box and scored off a shot to the left side.
• McKenna Donahue made it 3-0 at 70:41 as she scored off a centering pass by Emma Pompo.
• Cleveland State made it 4-0 less than 30 seconds later off a header by Maddie Young, while Courtney Coholich added the final tally at 82:56.

Inside the Boxscore
Ashley Orendac and Natalie Nevins paced the Hawks with two shots apiece.
Katie Cappelletti made three saves in goal for Saint Joseph’s.
