A woman was allegedly driving with a small child on her lap, while holding a mobile phone in Sydney’s west.
Last week, highway patrol officers received a photo taken by a mobile phone detection camera located in Bankstown.
The image allegedly showed a female driver in a Queensland-registered vehicle holding a mobile phone with the unrestrained child on her lap on November 1.
Following inquiries, police attended Padstow about 7.30pm on Wednesday and spoke with a 28-year-old woman who holds a Queensland learner drivers’ license.
She was issued a court attendance notice and was later charged with five related offenses.
The charges included driving recklessly/furiously or in a dangerous manner, using a mobile phone when not permitted, driving with a child under 4 years old unrestrained, a learner driving without the company of a driver, and not wearing a seatbelt.
The 28-year-old is due to appear before the Bankstown Local Court on January 25.
