Wolves’ technical advisor Fran Garagarza is leaving the club to join Espanyol as sporting director.

Garagarza was appointed last November with head coach Julen Lopetegui but is leaving after just seven months to return to Spain.

Wolves have no plans to replace him as Lopetegui has established a close relationship with existing sporting director Matt Hobbs to render the position of technical advisor redundant.

Lopetegui is preparing for his first full season in charge at Molineux after accepting the club’s transfer policy for this summer.

Wolves have to sell players to raise funds and have already sold captain Ruben Neves to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for £47 million.

Brentford are to continue talks over a potential £25 million move for Nathan Collins, the Republic of Ireland international.

Wolves will also consider the sale of other players including Mexico international Raul Jimenez, goalkeeper Jose Sa, Daniel Podence, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Jonny Castro Otto to raise more money.

Maximilian Kilman, the center-half, has attracted past interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea and could be sold if the club receives a significant fee.

Wolves have already lowered their wage bill with the departures of high earners Joao Moutinho and Diego Costa, whose contracts expired at the end of the last season.

Adama Traore, the Spain international, is also out of contract and a target for Serie A club Napoli. Wolves have still got a contract offer on the table for Traore, but it appears increasingly likely that he will leave as a free agent.

Lopetegui has targets for this summer but it is understood that Wolves will not be spending big on transfer fees, preferring to focus on up and coming talent around the £8-15 million mark.

Coventry forward Viktor Gyokeres has been regularly scouted by Wolves over the last 12 months. Alex Scott, Bristol City’s England under-20 international, is another Wolves target but, at this stage, he is out of the club’s price range as the fee is expected to be upwards of £25 million.
