Who are the five best right wings?

Now that we have covered the best goalies, best defensemen, best centers and best left wingers in NHL 23, we can focus on the five best right wingers in this year’s game. The NHL is scattered with tons of right-wing talent.

When you take a good look at the list of right wingers that are in the NHL today, you will see that as you make your way down the list, there is no shortage of talent. Sure, some players on the list are better than others in each of their own unique ways, but at the end of the day they are all capable of doing what hockey is best known for and that is putting the puck in the net. As we inch ever so slightly to the release of NHL 23 later this year, we need to take a look at which five players deserve the honor of becoming a top five right winger in NHL 23.

Right winged players are very similar to players that play on the left wing. The only difference is that instead of playing on the left side of the center, you play on the right side of the center. While the center leads the line, it is also important to have great wingers to help back the center up in a way in order to have the best chance of scoring any goals. Teams with a balance of centers and wingers tend to have success over a long period of time due to the nature of how the NHL is played.

Top five right wingers from last year’s NHL 22

  1. Patrick Kane (92 Overall)
  2. Nikita Kucherov (92 Overall)
  3. David Pastrnak (91 Overall)
  4. Mikko Rantanen (90 Overall)
  5. Mitchell Marner (90 Overall)

As you can tell, every right winger in the top five got at least a 90 overall or better. This just proves how much talent the NHL truly has at the right-wing position. While everyone on this list is different in some sort of way, they all have one thing in common and that is being able to score goals and rack up their point total. As another year has come and gone, it will be interesting to see which players should get a top five honor in NHL 23.

5. Mitchell Marner

The first of the bunch in NHL 23 is the man who led right wings in points, Mitchell Marner. Just like David Pastrnak, Mitchell Marner missed ten games, but in the 72 games that he did play, he made shockwaves. Marner scored 35 goals and 62 assists for 97 points. The only downside is that he is playing on one of the NHL’s most cursed teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs. It just appears that no matter how great the Toronto Maple Leafs are, they always get bounced in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

2021-2022 was a career-best for Mitchell Marner and with that being said, in the 2022-2023 season, Marner will hope to break the 100-point mark. Marner is the youngest right winger on this list at 24 years old and when it comes to NHL 23, he will be one of the best right wingers that you will be able to use.

EA Sports gave Mitchel Marner a 90 overall rating in NHL 22. That is an extremely good rating for a 23-year-old player at the time. However, as the years go on, Marner is only going to get better and adapt to the NHL even more than he has already. I see EA Sports being generous this year and at least raising his overall by 1 point at the minimum.

Estimated Overall: 91
