Where will the Grand Final be played, Sydney or Brisbane, hosting rights decision, news, updates, Suncorp Stadium, Accor Stadium, Peter V’landys

The ARL Commission held a Wednesday evening meeting on whether Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium or Sydney’s Accor Stadium will host the 2022 NRL Grand Final.

The Daily Telegraph reported Queensland’s Suncorp Stadium is now sensationally in the box seat to steal hosting rights for the 2022 Grand Final amid V’landys’ battle with the NSW government over funding for Suburban grounds.

However, a final decision will not be known until after the crucial board meeting, with both NSW and Queensland scrambling to secure hosting rights at the 11th hour.

Almost two hours into the meeting Buzz Rothfield reported on Fox League a decision could be held over until Thursday.

“They’re in a meeting as we speak. I texted PVL just before we came on air (at 6:30pm AEST) and he came back and said ‘still in the meeting’,” Rothfield said on NRL 360.

“They might hold the decision over until tomorrow now.

“I know there is growing frustration among the punters out there who normally in April can book their tickets to the big dance, book their accommodation in Sydney or Brisbane, book their flights.

“It’s a real pain in the backside this waiting game, I don’t know if it’s the government or the NRL but they’ve just got to let us know, people are over it.”

The Grand Final will be played on Sunday October 2.

“I have to be honest, I don’t know the answer right now (on the NRL grand-final venue).

“For the first time in my career I can’t tell you one way or the other.

“We will bite the bullet. Like any good board, we needed more information. We need to have the maximum amount of information to make the best decision we can make.

“This morning we didn’t have enough information. It’s on a knife’s edge. For the first time in my career I can’t tell you one way or the other.”
