Weather interrupts final-round play at the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament

GREER – Rain interrupted final-round play in the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament Sunday and caused a delay of three and a half hours.

Weather warning sirens blared at about 12:15 pm at the Thornblade Club and the course was cleared. Play was expected to resume at 3:45 pm

The top three on the leaderboard, playing together, had just finished hole No. 11. Josh Teater has a two-stroke lead on Chan Kim and Chase Parker. Teater is 3-under on the day and 20-under for the tournament.

Teater, a 44-year-old from Danville, Kentucky (Morehead State), is looking for his second win on the Korn Ferry Tour, a developmental league for the PGA Tour. He won the Utah Championship in 2009 and earned his PGA Tour card in 2010.

The tournament, which includes amateurs and celebrities along with professionals, raises money for local charities in the Greenville and Spartanburg areas.

Teater got off to a hot start Thursday, firing a 10-under 62 at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg. Kim (South Korea) and Parker (Augusta, Georgia) have been in the 60s every round.

Four golfers just three shots off the lead at minus-17 are Joe Weiler (Bloomington, Indiana), John VanDerLaan (Southbury, Connecticut), David Skinns (England) and Adrien Dumont de Chassart (Belgium).
