The Minnesota Twins (63-61) snapped out of a six-game losing streak in style on Friday night by routing the San Francisco Giants (61-63) in the opener of a three-game series at Target Field. With the win, the Twins picked up a game on the American League Central-leading Guardians and enter play on Saturday trailing by three games. Minnesota is five games back of Toronto and Seattle for the final two AL wild-card spots. The Giants are also scuffling, losing six of their last eight and fading in the NL wild-card race. San Francisco is six-and-a-half games behind the Padres for the last spot.
