It’s the first meeting between the divisional foes this season. Last year, the Penguins took two of the three games, including a split in New York. So far this year, the Penguins have been excellent in the division with a 5-1-2 record against Metropolitan teams. The Islanders are 7-4 in the division. Both teams are coming off divisional games. The Islanders beat the Florida Panthers 5-1, while the Penguins came up short against the Hurricanes in a 4-3 overtime defeat.

Both of these teams’ starting goalies have been among the best in the NHL this season. Ilya Sorokin of the Islanders is top five in two major statistical categories so far this year. He’s third in save percentage at 92.5%, and fourth in goals against average allowing 2.37 goals per game.
On the other side is Tristan Jarry. His 92% save percentage ranks fifth in the league, while his 2.67 goals-against average is 11th.
