It’s time for the second game of this home-and-home series between Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. This Upper Peninsula rivalry is going into its second series of the season. These two split another home-and-home series back in early December. That first series was much closer than the first game of this one in the backyard of the Michigan Tech Huskies. The Huskies were dominant winning 3-0 at home. The Northern Michigan Wildcats look to get even and get back to .500 on the season with a win at home Saturday.

The game was all about defense to start the game as neither team scored in the first period. Blake Pietila was the star of the game earning his seventh shutout of the season for the No. 13 Huskies. The goalie also has the school record, earning his 17th career shutout.
The game was much closer than the final score indicated though. Tyrone Bronte opened the scoring nabbing the first goal in the game. Pietila’s twin brother Logan gave the Huskies the breathing room they needed with the second goal of the game coming with 2:29 minutes left. Northern Michigan’s final goal came on an empty net. Will the home crowd be exactly what Northern Michigan needs to get even?
