The New Jersey Devils are still the best team in the Metropolitan division but they will be looking to end their four-game losing streak against an incredibly tough opponent in the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are coming off a loss as well, dropping to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and they need to get going if they are going to stay in competition in the Atlantic division. A statement win on the road against one of the best teams in the game will go a long way in doing that.

Florida lost 4-2 against the Penguins in a game where the Panthers started off well. They led 1-0 after the first period but then let up three unanswered goals. Not all was lost though as Sam Reinhart trimmed the deficit to 3-2 halfway through the third. Unfortunately for Florida, that was all the offense the team could muster and the Penguins iced the game on an empty-net goal.
The Devils are coming off a tough 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers where everything on paper says they should have won. New Jersey outshot Philly 49-24 but it was Flyers goalie Carter Hart who had the best performance of his season. After giving up a goal to Jack Hughes in the first, Hart didn’t give up a goal the rest of the way to give his team a chance. There’s no way the Devils can have that bad of luck in back-to-back games. Being at home tonight, they have a good shot at getting back on track.
