The defending champions have been hobbled by a plethora of injuries, but now they seem to be some light for the Colorado Avalanche. Heading into this game against the visiting Anaheim Ducks, the Avalanche are going for their seventh straight win. This streak is coming at a good time, as it looked bleak before it, losing to Chicago to drop seven of eight games. Now Colorado is back in third place in the Central division looking to gain even more ground on Dallas and Winnipeg.
The Avalanche are coming off a 3-2 win against the Washington Capitals. Colorado looked good the first two periods, gaining a sizable lead, but seemed to coast in the third. The Capitals commanded the period and capitalized with an Alexander Ovechkin goal to bring Washington within a goal. The Avalanche were outshot 39-26 in the game and Alexander Georgiev did everything but stand on his head, making 37 stops to rightfully earn first star. Both of Colorado’s last two wins have been too close for comfort, so look for it to create drastic space early against the Ducks.

Anaheim continues this lengthy road trip coming off a convincing 5-2 win against Arizona.
