Washington Opens Season at Home Monday vs. Utah Tech

SEATTLE — The Washington women’s basketball team opens the 2022-23 season at home at Alaska Airlines Arena with a non-conference matchup. The Huskies will host Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State) in the first meeting between the programs. The game tips off Monday, Nov. 7 at 5 pm PT and will be aired on the Washington Live Stream (GoHuskies.com/Live). Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.

The Team

Washington returns eight Huskies from last season with Lauren Schwartz, Jayda Noble, Haley Van Dyke, Nia Lowery, TT Watkins, Trinity Oliver, Lexi Griggsbyand Darcy Rees. Fans will see six new faces on the team this season, as the Huskies welcomed four freshmen from California – Hannah Stines, Teagan Brown, Shayla Gillmer, and Elle Ladine – and two transfers, Dalayah Daniels (Cal) and Emma Grothaus (Lehigh).

Preseason Nods

Van Dyke earned Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, and Grothaus was one of 20 players named to the 2023 Lisa Lisa Award Watch List.

Monday’s game is a doubleheader, with the Washington men’s basketball team tipping off their season in Alaska Airlines Arena at 8 pm PT.
