Warriors passed the Knicks and are now the NBA’s most valuable franchise

The Golden State Warriors have taken the top spot in Forbes Magazine’s ranking of the NBA’s most valuable franchise, surpassing the New York Knicks, the former owner of the post.

The defending league champions have an estimated net worth of $7 billion, a 25 percent increase over last year. This marks the first time that a team other than the Knicks or the Los Angeles Lakers has held the top spot on the list since Forbes began evaluating NBA franchises.

The Knicks, who previously held the top spot for seven consecutive years, finished second with $6.1 billion, followed by the Lakers ($5.9 billion), Chicago Bulls ($4.1 billion) and Boston Celtics ($4 billion).

The average NBA team is now worth $2.86 billion, a 15% increase over last year.
