Warriors blasted by South Bay Lakers in El Segundo

The Santa Cruz Warriors beat the South Bay Lakers with a last-second shot two days ago. The Lakers made sure that didn’t happen again in the teams’ NBA G League rematch on Sunday.

Center Jay Huff and guard Shaquille Harrison recorded double-doubles and three other Lakers scored 20 or more points in their 152-118 blowout of the Warriors at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo.

It was the most points the Warriors (5-8) have allowed this season, including Showcase Cup play.

Huff had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Harrison had 12 points and 12 assists. Reserves Javante McCoy and Cole Swider each scored 23 points for the Lakers (8-4), and Bryce Hamilton scored 20 points.

Patrick Baldwin Jr., on assignment from Golden State, led the Warriors with 21 points and seven assists. Moses Moody, also on assignment, had 20 points and four rebounds, and Lester Quinones had 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Santa Cruz shot 50% (41 of 89) from the field and 50% from beyond the arc (18 of 38), but the Lakers blew those totals away. They shot 60% (55 of 98) from the field and 50% (21 of 42) on 3-point attempts.

The Lakers moved the ball with great efficiency and recorded 34 assists against eight turnovers. Santa Cruz committed 21 turnovers. On defense, Harrison had four blocked shots, Huff blocked three attempts and South Bay finished with 12 total blocks and seven steals.

The Warriors return to action Friday, when they host the Ontario Clippers (9-5) at Kaiser Permanente Arena at 7 pm before embarking on a three-game road trip.
