Warriors aren’t big underdogs despite being down 2-0 to Kings

A 2-0 series deficit and the potential absence of Draymond Green in Game 3 isn’t doing much to make the Warriors big underdogs against the Sacramento Kings.

The Warriors are still +135 to win their first-round series with the Kings at BetMGM despite losing the first two games of the series in Sacramento. Green was ejected from Monday night’s 114-106 loss after he stomped on Damontas Sabonis’ chest. Green claimed after the game that his ankle had been grabbed, but that doesn’t seem likely to sway the NBA’s disciplinary actions. It’s very possible he’ll be unavailable for Game 3 because of a suspension.

Two road losses to start the series for the Warriors was not too much of a surprise. As you probably know, Golden State had one of the worst road records in the NBA during the regular season. The Warriors were the third-best team in the Western Conference at home with a 33-8 record but were just 11-30 on the road. Only the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons had fewer road wins. Those three teams finished with the three worst records in the NBA.

The Warriors are, however, closer to full strength in the postseason than they’ve been for a long time. Andrew Wiggins is back in the lineup after a long absence for personal reasons and scored 22 points in 39 minutes on Monday night.

If you’re confident the Kings can complete a sweep of the Warriors and win the next two games, you can get them at +1100 to end the series in four games. A five-game Kings win is at +360 while a six-game series is at +180 and a seven-game series is at +125. The Kings are -165 to win the series in any fashion.

BetMGM’s most likely series outcome at the moment is a tie between either the Kings or Warriors in seven games. Either outcome is at +325 while a Warriors win in six games is at +350. Yes, the book’s odds consider it more likely that the Warriors win the next four games in a row than the Kings splitting the next four games of the series. A Kings win in six games is at +800. A five-game Kings win is also at +800 and a Kings sweep is at +1000. Again, if you like the sweep, take the four-game series bet and not the Kings sweep bet for better odds.
