We are now just 39 days away from the Washington Capitals opening their 2022-23 season on October 12. Players have already begun their annual migration to MedStar Capitals Iceplex for workouts prior to the start of training camp, which opens on September 22.
In advance of the start of the season, bookmakers in Las Vegas have begun to release various odds for the season, including the over/under numbers for final standings points for each team.
The Capitals current over/under is set at 95.5, the fourth highest points total in the Metropolitan Division. [Click to enlarge].
Last year’s Vegas odds (here) had the same over/under points with the Capitals at 95.5, and they finished the season with 100 points. We advised to take the “Over” last season, and we’re making the same recommendation this season.
Probably the biggest surprise is the amount of money being wagered on the Pittsburgh Penguins this season. As a result, their over/under is set at a whopping 102.5 points – same as the Hurricanes and more than the Rangers. Take the under, quickly.
