Former Coastal Carolina left-handed pitcher Levi Huesman is transferring to Vanderbilt baseball, he said on Instagram on Sunday.
Huesman struggled as a freshman in 2023, putting up a 9.36 ERA across 18 appearances and eight starts, although he has performed better over the summer in the Coastal Plain League, with a 4.42 ERA.
He was a highly regarded prospect out of high school, where he rated as the No. 21 players in the 2022 class by Perfect Game. He was the second-highest rated pitching recruit to make it to campus that year, behind fellow Commodore Andrew Dutkanych. Huesman was also drafted in the 17th round of the 2022 draft but opted not to sign.
A rising sophomore, the 6-foot, 185-pounder has three years of eligibility remaining and will be draft-eligible in 2025. He joins a formidable group of southpaws that also includes Carter Holton, Devin Futrell and top local recruits Miller Green and Ethan McElvain, among others.
Huesman is the third player to join the Commodores out of the transfer portal this year, after Air Force right-hander Sawyer Hawks and Samford infielder Jayden Davis. Hawks and Huesman should both slot into a Vanderbilt bullpen that will likely be losing four top contributors in Patrick Reilly, Thomas Schultz, Nick Maldonado and Grayson Moore, all of whom were selected in the MLB Draft.
