Now, he’ll lead another stellar field in Georgia including Rory McIlroy who will be looking to finally claim Masters glory and complete the career grand slam.
With The Open being the last Major played in July, golf fans have had to be patient for the return of the elite action.
But the 2023 Masters will spark into life soon as the world’s best battle it out once again at the famous course.
And this year has an extra level of drama following the news that LIV Golf players – including several former Masters champions – have been cleared to compete.
The Masters 2023: Date and start time
The 87th edition of the Masters will be held from Thursday, April 6 to Sunday, April 9.
It is taking place, as ever, at the beautiful Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
Play is due to start at 2pm UK time (8am in Georgia) on the opening two days and at 4pm UK time over the weekend.

Sky Sports Masters will be showing the action again in the UK while the BBC are set to broadcast nightly highlights too.

The Masters 2023: Course details
The par 72 Augusta National will again play to a maximum length of 7,510 yards after two holes were extended last year.
The length of the 11th ‘White Dogwood’ was increased from 505 to 520 yards, while the 15th ‘Firethorn’ is now 550 yards.
Further lengthening could take place in the future after Augusta National purchased land from the adjacent Augusta Country Club in 2017.
Fans will be eagerly awaiting the action at two of the most famous par 3s in world golf, the 12th ‘Golden Bell’ and the 16th ‘Redbud’.

The Masters 2023: Field and tee times
There has been much talk about whether LIV Golf players will be allowed to play in Georgia this year with several former Masters champions now on the breakaway tour.
The PGA Tour has confirmed that LIV stars will not be able to compete at The Players Championship this year.
But Augusta National announced in December that LIV players will be included in the 2023 field meaning the likes of Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia can tee it up.
Open champion Cameron Smith will also be eligible as will recent US Open winners Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
Five-time champion Tiger Woods will hope to be fit enough to take part.
The full field will be announced soon with the pairings and tee times for the opening two rounds to be confirmed on Tuesday, April 4.
