UDNI joins forces with PC Works Plus | News, Sports, Jobs

Two local small businesses have joined forces to provide IT services to the area.

On Oct. 1, Altoona-based UDNI announced the acquisition of Bellwood-based PC Works Plus.

The merger brings together technical expertise and solutions that strengthen UDNI’s ability to deliver, service and support clients, according to a release.

PC Works Plus was founded in 1989 as a break/fix repair shop. President and founder Dave Wertz said the merger was the right move for the company.

“Joining UDNI ensures our clients will continue to have access to a broad range of cutting-edge solutions while improving the overall customer experience through the increased technical depth and support capabilities the two organizations now have, while providing great career advancement opportunities for our employees, “ Wertz said.

PC Works Plus and UDNI had talked in the past about joining forces.

“It came to a point where it made sense. … We had the same type of customers but none were the same customers,” said UDNI Executive Vice President Jesse Morrell.

The relationship has a strategic value, said UDNI Vice President of Operations Megan McGeary.

“PC Works Plus has a renowned reputation for customer satisfaction. … We look forward to continuing to provide all of our clients the same high-level support they’ve come to know, with increased efficiency through new proficiencies and resource depth we can now take advantage of,” McGeary said.

Sixteen PC Works Plus employees, including Dave and his wife, Terra, have joined UDNI.

With the merger, UDNI has about 400 customers and 35 employees.

“We are focused on central Pennsylvania, we care about the communities we grew up in. From a footprint, we range from north as far as State College, east to Philadelphia, go as far west as Johnstown and south into northern Virginia, Maryland and DC The majority are from State College to Bedford,” McGeary said.
