Kerry Carpenter homers, Tigers snap skid in 7-5 win over Guardians in Game 2
Lineup: TBA.
Game notes: Hill takes the mound for the third time his rookie season vs. Cleveland. His Independence Day MLB debut vs. the Guardians went well with one run over six innings. His more recent outing, Thursday, vs. the Guardians ended with three runs (one earned), four hits and a walk allowed over five innings. Steven Kwan and Josh Naylor have each hit a home run in limited appearances vs. Hill. But the Guardians’ two best hitters this season, Jose Ramirez and Amed Rosario, are a combined 0-for-11 with Hill on the mound. Plesac has fared well vs. Detroit, with 10 strikeouts in 121/3 innings with three runs and 10 hits allowed strikeouts over two starts. Riley Greene, Eric Haase and Javier Baez have taken Plesac deep, but he may want to see Willi Castro at least — the Tigers’ utilityman is 9-for-18 vs. Plesac.
The series ends with a night game and Wednesday.
