FIGURE IT OUT: Tigers OF Riley Greene diagnoses his hitting problems. What adjustments are needed
Probable pitchers: Tigers LHP Tyler Alexander (2-7, 3.98 ERA) vs. Angels LHP Reid Detmers (4-3, 3.45 ERA).
Lineup: TBA.
Game notes: The Tigers were shut out for the 17th time this season, the most in the majors, and now face Reid Detmers, a 2020 first-rounder (No. 10 overall) who no-hit the Tampa Bay Rays on May 10. The righty has a 1.50 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 36 innings since being recalled from the minors on July 8, which seems exactly what the Tigers need before they face reigning AL MVP Shohei Ohtani on Sunday afternoon.
After that series finale, the Tigers get Monday off before facing the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the Angels head immediately to Tampa Bay for a four-game rematch with the Rays.
