Tryba Architects’ Tech Regional Headquarters is a world-class office space deeply tied to values of innovation, sustainability, and connection to nature

Boulder, Colorado, USA

Located on a seven-building campus, the Tech Regional Headquarters is a contemporary office space, designed and renovated by David Tryba of Tryba Architects, and commissioned by CBRE Global Workplace Solutions, with a distinctive theme while following the latest corporate guidelines and meeting an aggressive schedule.

The Tech Regional Headquarters has recently been awarded a 2022 American Architecture Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

These values are reflected in the buildings’ innovative shape, high-performance envelope, and collaborative open floor plans connecting employees to the natural and urban environments and one another.

Multi-leveled terraces and interconnecting bridges provide opportunities for overlook and interaction across the campus.

Soft glazing reflects the tree canopies while maintaining visibility from one wing of the campus to the other.

Three levels of below-grade parking preserve natural vistas while the reconstruction of the neglected Boulder Slough waterway creates a strong sense of nature at the heart of the site and a highly enhanced public experience of movement along the trail.

The emphasis on restorative nature is carried through into the enlivened interiors, where a Colorado palette of materials emphasizes the company’s premier location and position in the region.

The arrival lobby doubles as a pre-function space and flows seamlessly into adjacent conferencing and social spaces.

Full-height windows allow for views of the surrounding landscaping, creating a sense of enclosure inside and out.

Intimate and comfortable spaces for individual work and small group collaboration are distributed throughout the floors and integrated with exterior architectural expression.

Stairs are glazed and pulled to the facades of the building to promote their use and provide a series of lanterns within the campus.

Interspersed social gathering spaces take cues from Colorado’s geography.

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is reinterpreted in one of the kitchens, complete with a wall-sized relief map.

The kitchen overlooks a three-level climbing wall that provides a recreational amenity fit for the Rocky Mountain region and intersects with a variety of social spaces throughout the building.

On the fourth level, a large exterior terrace is directly connected to the interior Café, allowing users to choose between indoor and outdoor seating and creating a connection to the broader landscape.

The Café’s interiors use Douglas Fir wood to assist in creating shade along the floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall, and the terrace is organized into distinct outdoor “rooms” to provide a variety of options for gathering.
