Tracking the Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster before the 2022 deadline

The Eagles left their third preseason game with 81 players and must be down to 53 by 4 pm on Tuesday.

That means they have a lot of work to do.

We’ll be tracking all their moves here:

• The Eagles’ resident Olympian Devon Allen did not make the 53-man roster. The Eagles are waiving Allen, according to Heavy’s Matt Lombardo. If he clears waivers, Allen would be a good candidate for the practice squad.

• As news broke that the Eagles traded for DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, we also found out that they released safety Anthony Harrisaccording to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. We could perhaps see Harris return at a later date.

• Cornerback Mac McCain III has been waived, according to a league source. McCain began training camp working with the Eagles’ second-team defense.

• Veteran offensive tackle Le’Raven Clark has been released, according to Schefter. Clark had been working as the third-team left tackle behind Jordan Mailata and Andre Dillard.

Defensive tackle Marvin Wilson has been waived, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Wilson had a strong camp but the numbers are tough at that position.

• The Eagles are waiving UDFA cornerback Mario Goodrichaccording to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Goodrich’s contract included $217,000 in guaranteed money. He could be back on the practice squad.

• After a poor preseason, the Eagles are waiving their QB Reid Sinnettaccording to Pelissero. Sinnett was the third-stringer all camp and even got some second-team reps. But ultimately the Eagles are keeping just two QBs on the 53.

Jaquiski Tartt was once thought to be an exciting safety signing, but he’s one of the Eagles’ first cuts, according to Adam Caplan. The veteran from the 49ers missed some practice time for personal reasons and never really stood out.

• The Eagles released center Cameron Tomaccording to Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork. Tom was a UDFA back in 2017 and has bounced around with a few different teams.

• One of the most curious cases all summer was Carson Strongwho is being released according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. Strong barely played in the preseason despite getting $320,000 guaranteed, by far the most of any of the Eagles’ UDFAs. The Nevada product talked about his summer after Saturday’s preseason game.

• Running backs Jason Huntley is being released, according to Mike Kaye of ProFootballNetwork. Huntley spent last season on the Eagles’ practice squad and broke off a long touchdown run in the preseason finale.

• For the second time this week, the Eagles are waiving CB Josh Blackwellaccording to Wilson. The Eagles released Blackwell last week but then re-signed him a couple days later for practices in Miami and the third preseason game.

• The Eagles are releasing DT Renell Wrenaccording to Caplan. Wren is a former fourth-round pick who played in 12 games for the Bengals.

• Tight end Richard Rodgers has been released, according to NJ.com’s Chris Franklin. The veteran has had several stints with the Eagles and is always just a phone call away.

• A few years ago, Greg Ward was a big part of the Eagles’ receiving corps. But this summer he’s been nursing a toe injury and now he’s being released, according to Franklin.
