Tom Brady wouldn’t change a thing.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion says he has “zero” regrets about un-retiring from the NFL – despite the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ poor start to the season and his divorce from Gisele Bündchen.
“I returned because I felt like I wanted to compete, and I spoke to the team about it, and they were excited to have me back,” Brady, 45, told reporters on Friday, per ESPN.
When asked if he had any regrets about his career moves, Brady replied, “Zero, no. Definitely not.”
“I don’t really regret those types of things — I think when I commit to it, I mean it, and I do my best and try to give everything I can to this particular opportunity,” the star quarterback continued.
The father of three, whose divorce from Bündchen was finalized last month, did not speak directly about his split from the Victoria’s Secret supermodel.
“I think the frustrating part is we just haven’t played to the way we’re capable of playing — that’s for a number of different reasons,” Brady said of his current team.
“This is a very important game for us… We’ve got to just win this game, and it’ll take care of that,” he added, referring to their match against the Seattle Seahawks in Germany on Sunday.
The football star previously revealed that his relationship woes did have an impact on his job.
“I think there’s a lot of professionals in life that go through things that they deal with at work and they deal with at home,” he said on an episode of his Sirius XM show “Let’s Go!” last month.
“Obviously, the good news is it’s a very amicable situation, and I’m really focused on two things, taking care of my family and certainly my children, and secondly, doing the best job I can to win football games.”
Brady continued, “So, that’s what professionals do. You focus at work when it’s time to work, and then when you come home, you focus on the priorities that are at home. All you can do is the best you could do. That’s what I’ll just continue to do as long as I’m working and as long as I’m being a dad.”
On the most recent episode of the podcast, Brady told fans he was trying to find “better peace of mind” after confirming his divorce in an Instagram post.
“My daughter always says, ‘Daddy, you didn’t have a happy face out there,'” he explained, referring to his 9-year-old daughter Vivian. “And I’m trying!” I wish I would have more awareness of what the scowl looks like, but I’m doing my best to try to get to a better place and better peace of mind.”
In addition to Vivian, Brady and Bündchen also share son Benjamin, 12. Brady is also father to son John “Jack” Edward, 15, with ex Bridget Moynahan.
Since announcing their split, the supermodel has been spotted looking relaxed on a Costa Rica getaway with her kids, after quietly purchasing a Surfside, Fla., home near her ex’s house.
