Tom Brady has officially played in the NFL for HALF of his life as there are the same number of days between the day the seven-time Super Bowl champion was born and the day he was drafted by the Patriots
Tom Brady has officially spent half of his life playing in the NFL, as the 45-year-old is on the verge of leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the playoffs in his 23rd season in the league.
As of Thursday, it has been confirmed that the seven-time Super Bowl champion has spent exactly 8,292 days in the NFL. That’s the same number of days between the day the seven-time Super Bowl champion was born and the day he was drafted by the New England Patriots, according to the league.
Considering Brady was drafted as a sixth-round pick in 2000, that’s quite an achievement in itself and it just goes to show how assertive and dominant the five-time Super Bowl MVP has been since the beginning of the century.
The NFL said on Thursday that Tom Brady, 45, has spent 8,292 days in the league since 2000
And he’s not ready to walk away just yet. Despite his age, Brady has thrown for 21 touchdowns for 4,178 yards in 15 games this season. He also has a season-high nine interceptions as the Buccaneers hold onto a 7-8 overall record to still be top of the NFC South.
To put Brady’s longevity in the NFL into context, the year that Brady was drafted was also the year that saw the song ‘Maria Maria’ by Santana go to the top of the billboard charts in the US.
That same year, TV shows ‘Survivor’ and ‘Big Brother’ were also aired for the first time. Beyoncé had not yet launched a career as a solo artist and was still a member of Destiny’s Child.

The 45-year-old quarterback is on the verge of completing his 23rd NFL season with the Bucs
In 2000, the now-50-year-old Shaquille O’Neal won his first and only NBA MVP award while playing for the LA Lakers and along with the late Kobe Bryant.
Back then also there were only two ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies starring Tom Cruise and the Tennessee Titans had lost Super Bowl XXXIV to the St. Louis Rams, 23-16, before they moved to Los Angeles.
Brady, however, does not intend on retiring anytime soon. In March, just 40 days after confirming his initial retirement, he announced that he was coming back to play in the NFL for a third season with the Bucs.

The 45-year-old quarterback has yet to hint at wanting to retire following this season, saying he will take his time to reflect before sharing his decision in the offseason. He has insisted that when he decides to retire there is no chance he’ll return.
If Brady chose to keep playing, then he’d be a highly-coveted free agent despite his age.
The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to be one of many suitors battling for his signature after it was confirmed that starting quarterback Derek Carr would step away from the team following a 10-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which virtually ended the Nevada franchise’s playoff hopes. .
