Tim Sherwood left the Soccer Saturday panel in stitches after not knowing which way round Preston and QPR were kicking – sparking confusion over a penalty.

However, what Sherwood did not realize was that the challenge was made inside Preston’s box and not their opponents.

The 53-year-old started the confusion by confidently claiming that the home side should have been awarded a spot-kick.
Upon seeing the incident, Sherwood instantly said: ‘For me, it has to be a penalty’
Before doubling down, saying: ‘It looked like a penalty for Preston… it’s a nailed on penalty’
The confusion then kicked in further when Sherwood saw the decision being made and still thought that a penalty had been given to the Lilywhites – even claiming it was Preston striker Ched Evans who had been fouled.
Luckily for Sherwood, Clinton Morrison was on the panel and was able to actually explain what had happened.

Morrison interrupted his co-panellist to say: ‘I don’t think it’s a penalty, it’s the other way round he’s defending. Look, it’s a free-kick.’
The panel then burst into laughter at Sherwood’s expense after realizing what had happened all along.
Paul Merson even jokingly explained to Sherwood that ‘[Queens Park] Rangers are kicking that way.’
QPR went on to win the game 1-0 as Preston could have done with Sherwood officiating the game from the studio.
