Thomas’ Three Storylines – WPG @ EDM

BUILD OFF THE LAST GAME

Outside of falling behind 1-0, 41 seconds into the game Thursday night, the Jets played a solid game ending their three-game slide with a 4-2 win over Vancouver. They held the Canucks to just 15 shots over the final two periods and that is something to build off of.

“I thought it was great. We were in the middle of a losing streak there and we had a tough start,” he said. Sam Gagner after the morning skate in Edmonton.

“We got back to our identity where all four lines are looking the same. We’re creating o-zone possessions and playing in their end and that’s the recipe for success.”

REICHEL IN

Christian Reichel will play in his first Jets game of this season after playing in 13 in 2021-22 for Winnipeg. Reichel was recalled on Thursday from the Manitoba Moose where he has two goals and seven assists in 25 games in the AHL. The 24-year-old will start the night on the right side David Gustafsson and Jansen Harkins, Michael Eyssimont will come out. The other three lines and all three defense pairings will remain the same as the game against Vancouver.

MCDAVID SHOOTING MORE

The NHL’s leading scorer, Connor McDavid has started to shoot the puck more this season and leads the league in goals and assists. McDavid is on a seventeen-game point streak after his five-point (1G-4A) performance in Seattle last night that included his 32n.d goal of the season.

“We all know he can shoot the puck. He’s scoring a lot of goals this year,” said Neal Pionk.

“The scariest part is he can score goals, but he can also pass to the backside, it’s something we have to be aware of.”
