ThinkPad X1 Carbon G11, X1 Nano G3 & X1 Yoga G8: Small 2023 update for Lenovo’s premium ThinkPads

  • by

Traditionally, Lenovo releases its new ThinkPad X1 models every year at CES. These comparably expensive ultrabooks for business customers are exclusively using Intel processors. This year, the announcement of the 2023 versions of the X1 Carbon, X1 Yoga and X1 Nano is happening a few weeks before CES starts.

The three new models, ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11, ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 and ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3, are all based on the design of their predecessors X1 Carbon G10 (available from Amazon, affiliate link), X1 Yoga G7 and X1 Nano G2. Using an established design means Lenovo does not implement many new features.

Even under the hood, not much is happening. All three of course are updated to the 13th Gen Intel Core CPUs, both U15 and P28 versions will be available. The only other noteworthy spec change happening in the RAM department: The X1 Carbon G11 and X1 Yoga G8 gain a new 64 GB RAM option. The X1 Nano G3 on the other hand does not receive this new option; compared with the 2022 model, the maximum RAM offered is even reduced to 16 GB again.

Apart from these changes, Lenovo is putting a greater emphasis on sustainability. That is why both the X1 Nano and X1 Carbon are now going to incorporate more recycled magnesium and aluminum, up to 90% in the case of the magnesium palmrest of the X1 Carbon G11.
