A thief has been called ‘considerate’ by Twitterers for publicly admitting his crime and emailing the man whose laptop he nicked.
The victim, a man from South Africa, shared a screengrab of the email he received from the thief who had stolen his laptop, which reportedly contained his research work.
In the email, the thief apologized for the crime and said he needed money after struggling to make ends meet. But having realized that his victim was busy with some research work, he went on to attach to the email the relevant files stored in the laptop/
That’s not all. He even mentioned that if there are any other important research files in the computer, the victim would need to alert him by 12 noon Monday as he had already found a customer.
The email reads: “Bro Howzit, I know I stole your laptop yesterday. I needed the money as I have been struggling to make ends meet. I see that you were busy with a research proposal, I have attached it and if (there) are any other files that you need please alert me before Monday 12.00 since I have found a customer. Once again ngiyacolisa bro.”
The supposed laptop owner, @Zweli_Thixo, captioned the tweet: “They stole my laptop last night and they sent me an email using my email, I have mixed emotions now.”

In a follow-up tweet, the user shared a screenshot of his reply to the email.
Guluva made a proposal if he could buy his own laptop back for R4,000. He went on to write in the caption that he was advised to do so by many who commented on the first tweet.

Replying to Guluva’s message, the thief wrote: “Are you going to get me arrested? You think I would fall for that? The only time I would agree to do this if you make it R5000 and we are going to meet on the location of my choice. No police if I see anyone else on the spot it will be the last time you hear from me.”
The caption also mentioned that the thief agreed to meet Guluva to hand over the laptop.
The tweet read: “As advised by the comments that I should try to buy the laptop back from the person, I managed to convince them. We are meeting up today around 12:00.”
A user wrote, “Anyone who is able to offer this guy a job, please. This man went through the laptop and found a Research proposal and actually appreciates the effort and time that goes into it. Honestly, I’d hire him if I had the means.”
“So you know now, that they were truly in dire need of money without having lost their morals or being “a bad person”. Trying to minimize your loss is kind of sweet, I think. Hopefully people realize, what capitalism is doing to us,” wrote a second user.
