There’s strength in the offensive and defensive backfields

  • by

[VITALS]

  • COACH — TONY BONITO (3rd season, 9-11)
  • HOME — Moriarty Field, Prince Tech, Hartford
  • PLAYOFF CLASS — M
  • CONFERENCE — CTC
  • 2021 RECORD — 4-6
  • STARTERS RETURNING (off/def) — 2/4

[THEY’RE HERE]

  • JAMAI FRANKLIN, Jr. FS (5-10, 190)
  • YOVIEL ALVELO, Sr. DB (5-9, 150)
  • ANTWONNE BLUE, Jr. RB (5-8, 170)

[REASON TO CHEER]

Blue was an all-conference running back

[REASON TO FEAR]

Two potential starting quarterbacks were injured in the offseason.

[THE BOTTOM LINE]

The Falcons’ strengths may be in the backfield on both sides of the ball, with Blue running the ball on offense. Bonito thinks his defensive secondary is among the best in the CTC with Alvelo and Franklin. Up front may be a bit of a work in progress.

Senior Prince Bobbs takes over at quarterback with the other two out, and a couple of new receivers have shown early promise. Bonito says numbers are growing since school started, too.

The Falcons start their season with two home games before going on the road against a few of the tougher conference teams of the past few years.
