Sixers’ preseason schedule includes two meetings with Cavs originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Sixers and Cavs will get to know each other a little better this preseason.
Two of the four matchups on the Sixers’ 2022-23 preseason slate are with Cleveland. Below is the Sixers’ full schedule, which the team announced Friday afternoon. The two home games will air on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
-
Monday, Oct. 3: Sixers at Nets, 7:30 p.m. ET
-
Wednesday, Oct. 5: Sixers vs. Cavs, 7 p.m. ET
-
Monday, Oct. 10: Sixers at Cavs, 7 p.m. ET
-
Wednesday Oct. 12: Sixers vs. Hornets, 7 p.m. ET
The Sixers already learned a good amount about the Cavs over the second half of last season. They played Cleveland four times between Feb. 12 and April 3, sweeping the season series.
Joel Embiid notched a 40-point triple-double (and threw down afAntastically ferocious dunk over All-Star center Jarrett Allen) in the first Sixers-Cavs meeting last season. When the teams faced off in April, Embiid posted 44 points and 17 rebounds.
Tyrese Maxey against Darius Garland promises to be entertaining. Garland made his first All-Star appearance last season weeks after turning 22 years old, and it doesn’t sound like the Sixers would be remotely surprised to see Maxey reach that stage soon.
LaMelo Ball and the Hornets also tend to be a fun watch. Charlotte will hope to improve its defense this year under new head coach Steve Clifford. The Sixers scored a season-high 144 points on the Hornets in their final matchup of last season.
PJ Tucker, De’Anthony Melton and Daniel House Jr. should all take the floor as Sixers for the first time this preseason. It’s also possible Ben Simmons will suit up in Brooklyn against his former team. After having back surgery in May, the 26-year-old was expected to be ready for Nets training camp.
