The LPGA Epson Tour returns to the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic at Ol’ Colony for the second consecutive year

The Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic women’s golf tournament is returning to the Ol’ Colony Golf Complex for the second consecutive year on Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

The second annual tournament is an official qualifier for the Ladies Professional Golf Association Epson Tour, which has 20 regular-season tournaments.

The 54-hole tournament features 120 professional women golfers from nearly 30 countries. Last year’s field included former University of Alabama golfers and was won by Norway’s Celine Borge at 15-under. Admission is free.

“The course is in great shape, and we are pleased to also announce two presenting sponsors for the tournament,” George Lake, 2023 tournament chairman, local businessman and golf enthusiast said. “Buffalo Rock Pepsi is returning, and Alabama Credit Union has increased their level of sponsorship. This is a wonderful foundation of community support with which to announce the second annual tournament, and we still have excellent opportunities remaining.”

The Ol’ Colony Golf course was designed by Jerry Pate, who played on the Alabama golf team and the PGA Tour. He won the 1976 US Open and has eight PGA Tour wins.

The EPSON TOUR’s 21st event is the championship. Standings are based on season-long play.

“The players on the EPSON Tour work hard at their craft, and we want to show them how hard all our partners work to make Ol’ Colony a great place to play, not only championship professional golf, but also junior golf and casual, weekend play,” Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority CEO Brian C. Davis said. “I want to thank Tuscaloosa Toyota, the Tuscaloosa County Commission, the City of Tuscaloosa, the City of Northport, Visit Tuscaloosa, and all our generous sponsors for supporting this great event.”
