The MLB season got wrapped up quite a while ago with the conclusion of the World Series. One of the favorite contenders, the Houston Astros, sealed their name over the title this year. But even with the on-field action out of sight, the franchises are staying busy in player acquisitions. So, the World Series winners from 2021 have also joined the race, and that team is obviously the Atlanta Braves.

As per common knowledge, the Braves won the World Series last year by defeating the Astros. The Braves reached the postseason this year again, with the zonal crown. Pocket a shocking defeat against the wildcard entries, Philadelphia Phillies, had sent the Braves packing. The past actions are now becoming a part of history, and the Braves are spending big to power up for the future.

The Braves have recently grabbed headlines across the MLB fraternity by signing up a catcher Sean Murphy. Thus, the Braves and Murphy have agreed to a $78 million worth contract for a six-year term. Therefore, locking up the 28-year-old catcher until 2028 with a no-buyout $15 million club option for 2029. However, Murphy is not the only lucrative contract that the Braves have dished out.

The Braves have also locked up Matt Olson until 2030, Ozzie Albies until 2027, and Austin Riley until 2033. Additionally, also locking up Michael Harris II until 2032, Ronald Acuña Jr. until 2028, and Spencer Strider until 2029. Beginning this year’s MLB season as the defending champions, the Braves were among the favorite contenders yet again. But so now, as it seems, the Braves are building a potential champion team for ages to come.

C Sean Murphy (2028). 1B Matt Olson (2030). 2B Ozzie Albies (2027). 3B Austin Riley (2033). OF Michael Harris II (2032). OF Ronald Acuña Jr. (2028). SP Spencer Strider (2029). WOW.”

Is Sean Murphy worth his contract value?

Murphy made his MLB debut with the Oakland Athletics as a catcher in 2019. He has always remained a decent contributor in the defense and offense alike. A Golden Glove Award recipient in 2021, Murphy concluded the latest MLB season smashing 18 home runs with 66 RBIs, averaging 0.250.
