SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Texas Tech and Ohio State will play off at 10 am CDT Monday for the 15th and final team berth in the fourth round of the NCAA golf championship tournament.

The 30-team field is cut to 15 teams after the third round. Tech and Ohio State are tied for 15th at 26 over par. To resolve the tie, the Red Raiders and Buckeyes will send out their five-player lineups to each play one hole a piece for a combined team score. The playoff holes will be Nos. 14 through 18 at Grayhawk Golf Club.

Tech had a four-shot cushion on Ohio State with Ludvig Aberg the last of the Red Raiders to finish. After his tee shot rolled into the water and he took a drop, he missed a 12-footer for par. Shortly thereafter, Ohio State players made four birdies from holes No. 6 through 9, their last holes of the round, to get to 25-over, but the Buckeyes’ Neal Shipley bogeyed No. 9 to shoot 3-under 67 and leave the teams tied.

Aberg’s 1-under 69 round left him 1-over for the tournament in a tie for 19th. Matthew Comegys (71) is 5-over, followed by Tech teammates Calum Scott (74) at 12-over, Tyran Snyders (75) at 15-over and Jack Wall (80) at 16-over.

Leading the team race are Illinois at 6-under, Pepperdine at 3-under and Florida at 1-under. Next are North Carolina at 1-over, Georgia Tech at 2-over, Stanford at 10-over and Arizona State at 11-over.

The individual NCAA champion will be decided after Monday’s fourth round. Georgia Tech’s Ross Steelman is 9-under, leading the race by four strokes over Shipley from Ohio State and Dylan Menante from North Carolina.
