he CEO of Web Summit Paddy Cosgrave told Tech & Science Daily it is ‘incredible to be back’ at the event, after an 18-month break.

The tech summit returned to Lisbon this year, selling out three weeks before it began, with more than 70,000 attendees.

Paddy told Tech & Science Daily that discussions around Artificial Intelligence have dominated the event, and said they will need months of discussions around how next year’s Web Summit will be held, following the popularity of the 2022 event.

Also at Web Summit Ring CEO Jamie Siminoff revealed work is continuing on their new home security device, then Ring drone.

It’s designed to fly around the home while the occupants are away, giving them a live view of their rooms.

Jamie said they’re hoping to make it pet-friendly, so users can check on their pets while they’re out of the house.

And the president of Mozilla Mark Surman told Tech & Science Daily they have launched a fund for startups focused on being fair with people’s data and how they use algorithms.

Mark said social media users are becoming more and more aware of how companies use their data and target their content.
