Tech, Sartell face off in Central Lakes girls soccer matchup

ST. CLOUD — Tech and Sartell are both off to strong starts this season. The teams met Thursday night in a key Central Lakes Conference matchup at Tech High School.

Sartell’s Chloe Turner scored in the opening minutes and added another goal in the first half. Kaia Gack scored for the Sabers in the second half and Turner scored again near the end of the game for the hat trick and a 4-0 Sartell win.

The Sabers lead the Central Lakes at 7-0 and are 10-0-1 overall. They host Moorhead in a Section 8-3A battle Tuesday.

The loss was the Tiger’s first in their conference where they are now 3-1-2. They are 5-2-2 overall. The Tigers have been strong on the road so far this year with wins at Moorhead and Alexandria.

The Tigers travel to Sauk Rapids-Rice Tuesday night and will host Brainerd Thursday night in a big conference matchup. Brainerd and Tech tied 1-1 in their last game Sept. 6.

In other area girls soccer games Thursday, Cathedral stayed unbeaten in the Granite Ridge Conference with a 5-0 win against Melrose. Ava Schmidt, Bayley Schneider, Camryn Balfanz, Hope Schueller and Taylar Schaefer all scored goals in the game. Cathedral is 5-2-3 overall.
