The World Baseball Classic, organized by MLB, starts in a few months, in March, and national teams are finalizing their rosters.

Some players often prioritize their preparation for spring training and the season and opt not to take part in the tournament, but what better way to stay in shape than competing at the highest level against the best baseball countries in the world?

Team USA, determined to validate the trophy they earned in the last edition (2017), are putting together an impressive roster.

Mike Trout, Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Tim Anderson, Trevor Story, Kyle Tucker, Will Smith, JT Realmuto, Cedric Mullins and other talented stars will be on the roster for the United States in the position players department.

The rotation hasn’t quite been able to recruit bonafide aces like Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, Corbin Burnes, Justin Verlander and others, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t talented.

Here is a peek at some of the commits on the pitching side.

A Talented, Balanced Staff

Team USA might not have a true workhorse ace, but they do have a pretty talented staff.

Nestor Cortes is fresh off a 2.44-ERA season with the New York Yankees, and Logan Webb is the closest thing to an ace they have.

Brady Singer is a promising young pitcher, and Adam Wainwright is the seasoned veteran who still has something left in the tank.

The relievers are quite impressive: David Bednar and Devin Williams are among the best in the league, especially the latter.

Ryan Pressly was mightily impressive in the postseason with the Houston Astros and figures to close.

All in all, there is talent in the Americans’ staff, and they won’t be afraid to use it.
