On Saturday, Team Canada forward Colton Dach was injured at the World Junior Hockey Championship and now his team has confirmed the worst.
On Sunday morning, Hockey Canada confirmed that Dach would miss the remainder of the tournament as a result of the injury he suffered yesterday ending his tournament after 4 games played in which he had no goals and 2 assists for a total of 2 points.
Dach went in for a hit along the boards during a game against Sweden, reacted badly to the impact almost immediately and then crumbled to the ice awkwardly. There was no doubt about the fact that Dach had suffered a painful injury though, given that he was screaming in agony due to whatever it was that had just happened to his body.
Dach appeared to heavily favor his right arm as he dragged himself off the ice and back into the Canadian locker room, and according to a report from Scott Wheeler this appears to be some type of shoulder injury.
Replacing Dach at the tournament will be Montreal Canadiens prospect Owen Beck who is currently playing for the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League. Beck was selected by the Canadiens in the 2nd round (33rd overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
No word yet on the severity of the injury to Dach, which is what will really matter from the perspective of the Chicago Blackhawks who drafted him in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
