Suttner Named Player To Watch By United Soccer Coaches

Hempstead, NY – Hofstra senior defender Anja Suttner has been named to the United Soccer Coaches “Players To Watch” list for defenders in anticipation of the 2022 season beginning next week.

The lists are being released for the first time this season by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second team All-Region players from 2021, who are scheduled to return for the 2022 season.

Suttner has had a stellar career for the Pride, having played in 51 games and making 49 starts over the past three years. Suttner earned a slew of awards a season ago, including being named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team, the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team, the All-ECAC Team, as well as a pair of academic honors from the United Soccer Coaches.

Suttner helped lead Hofstra to a program-record 13 shutouts in 2021 and a 0.58 goals against average, which ranked first in the CAA and 12th nationally.

For her career she also has 19 points on seven goals and five assists.
