The Phoenix Suns are refreshing their Nike Hardwood Classic Edition uniform.
In celebration of the 30-year anniversary since its debut, Phoenix has unveiled its classic rising “Sunburst” look. The team said it will wear the uniform throughout the 2022-23 season and will host “immersive 90s nights” and launch a Hardwood Classics apparel collection to accompany the release of the uniforms.
Per the Suns, the sunburst marked the first major redesign of the team’s uniforms in more than 20 years. The unis debuted on Nov. 7, 1992, which was the regular-season opener and the first NBA game to be played inside the Footprint Center (then named America West Arena).
In the 1992-93 season, the Suns went 62-20 and reached their first NBA Finals since 1976 behind the play of stars such as Charles Barkley (the NBA MVP that season), Dan Majerle, Kevin Johnson and others.
