AARON Simpson was crowned winner of the Castle Stuart Local Open after coming out on top in the final.
The Strathpeffer Golf Club member was the clear winner in the Stableford competition as he finished with 45 points.
He was five points ahead of Garey Kerr of Royal Dornoch Golf Club on 40 with Robert MacAskill from Isle of Skye in third place.
Ryan MacAskill also from Isle of Skye and Peter Rawlinson from Kings Golf Club finished in joint fourth place on 37 points. Keith Campbell (Inverness) Donald Campbell (Durness) Jack Munro (Inverness) and Graham Fraser (Inverness) all finished on 34 points.
The event also raised £430 for mental health charity Mikeysline.
Castle Stuart director of golf, Jeremy Matte, said they were delighted the tournament could help a charity which does great work in the community.
“We are delighted to hand over this check for £430 to Mikeysline and would like to thank all participants of this year’s Men’s Local Open who helped raise this amount.”
Mikeysline fundraising manager Katie Melville says the charity was grateful to be the recipient of money raised.
“We would like to thank Castle Stuart and all the golfers for supporting our work, which is deeply appreciated as Mikeysline enters our busiest time over the winter months. It is okay not to be okay – especially during the festive period which is difficult for many – don’t suffer in silence. We are here 365 days a year.”
