SOCCER ROUNDUP: Stevens boys and girls open the season by sweeping Brookings

RAPID CITY, SD – It’s hard to believe but the fall sports season has arrived with the start of high school soccer.

The Rapid City Stevens boys hosted the Brookings Bobcats on Friday evening.

The Raiders are coming off a 12-3 season in which they lost to Yankton in the Class ‘AA’ semifinals.

After falling behind in the opening minutes, the Stevens boys rallied in the second half to beat Brookings, 2-1.

Ryan Gaughan scored the game-tying goal for Stevens early in the second half.

Then Ty Gagne scored with 27 seconds left in regulation to secure the win for the Raiders.

Meanwhile, the Rapid City Stevens girls soccer team is off to a good start this season.

The Raiders shut out Brookings, 6-0.

The Raiders will play Watertown on Saturday, Aug. 13 at 9 am and 11 am

Rapid City Central will host Brookings in a boys and girls doubleheader on Saturday starting at 9 am
