Soccer: Lukaku to miss derby, UCL clash with Bayern – English

(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 30 – Inter’s Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku pulled a muscle in training Monday and will miss Tuesday night’s Serie A clash with Cremonese, the Milan derby with AC Saturday, and next week’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich as well. the next Serie A fixture with Torino, the Nerazzurri said Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Antwerp born center forward rejoined Inter this summer after an unhappy spell at Chelsea last term, when coach Thomas Tuchel hardly used him.

Inter sources said the powerful forward might be back for Viktoria Plzen on September 13, but it was lore likely that Lukkaku will return after the end of September international break, missing Udinese too and returning on the first weekend of October against Roma.

Inter won their most recent scudetto in 2020 with the hulking Belgian leading the line, and finished runners up to city rivals Milan last season.

Lukaku scored a remarkable 47 goals in just 72 games for Inter between 2019 and 2021, having joined the Nerazzurri from Manchester United.

He previously played for Everton.
